SIMPLE STRESS-BUSTING STEPS:
- Just breathe – You can actually take control of your breathing in an intentional way, and harness the benefits of relaxation and stress reduction. A very simple method is to count to 10, 1 on the in-breath, 2 on the out-breath and start over at 1 when you reach 10.
- Exercise – Working out on a regular basis can be a great stress-reliever and can have an overall calming effect. It is beneficial to reach the level of sweating from exercise daily.
- Get some sleep – Getting quality sleep is an essential foundation for lower stress levels during the day and overall health. Aim for at least 8 hours. If you can't achieve this time, try slowly increasing time by half hour increments and get as much as you can. In addition, having quality sleep patters such as regular bedtime and wake up time are beneficial. Try to sleep in a completely dark/black room.
- Don't worry, be happy – Research has shown that optimists tend to have lower stress levels than pessimists. Emotional stress from external sources may have a significant influence health.
- Find a natural tool – To take your stress reduction to another level, finding and using an effective tool will greatly help. I recommend the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and meditations of all kinds.
